A total of 6 projects under 2209-B and 31 projects under 2209-A from our Faculty have been selected for support, with contributions from the following departments: Food Engineering: 5 (2209-B), 1 (2209-A) Electrical and Electronics Engineering: 1 (2209-B), 2 (2209-A) Computer Engineering: 24 (2209-A) Civil Engineering: 2 (2209-A) Geological Engineering: 1 (2209-A) Environmental Engineering: 1 (2209-A) Across our university, 7 projects under 2209-B and 418 projects under 2209-A have been awarded funding in total. We sincerely thank all our students, faculty members, and industry advisors who have contributed to the process by preparing and submitting project proposals. We congratulate them on their achievements and wish them continued success.

The TURK-COSE 2024 Congress, led by the NÖHÜ Research and Application Center on Culture and Education of Kazakhstan and our Faculty Dean's Office, was held in Baku this year.


Under the leadership of our university's "Kazakh Culture and Education Research and Application Center," the 6th International Turkic World Congress on Science and Engineering (TURK-COSE 2024)—one of the prominent scientific events in the Turkic World—was held this year in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

In collaboration with our university and SGS Academy, HACCP Training was provided to the students of our Faculty’s Food Engineering Department on December 23-24, 2024, and the Integrated Management Systems Awareness Training was held on December 25-26-27, 2024, with the participation of university students. These programs, implemented free of charge to support student development and benefit society, were a great success.

The project titled "Development of an AEM Electrolyzer" by Prof. Dr. Bora Timurkutluk, a faculty member of our Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Research Assistant Furkan Toruntay, which aims to contribute to environmentally friendly energy technologies, has been awarded the "Seal of Excellence" under the 1812 - TÜBİTAK Investment-Based Entrepreneurship Support Program (BİGG) 2024-2 Call.

The patent application titled "Development of an Automatically Controlled Metal Hydride Reactor," submitted by Prof. Dr. Yüksel Kaplan, a faculty member of our Department of Mechanical Engineering, and his project team, has been granted a national patent registration by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.


Furthermore, it received a positive report indicating the potential for international patent approval. The patent is based on research supported under the TÜBİTAK-1001 Program and constitutes a part of the doctoral dissertation of Gamze Atalmış, a PhD student in the Mechanical Engineering Department of our Graduate School of Natural Sciences. In addition to Prof. Dr. Yüksel Kaplan, the patent registration recognizes the contributions of Prof. Dr. Bora Timurkutluk and Prof. Dr. Serkan Toros, faculty members of our Faculty of Engineering’s Mechanical Engineering Department, as well as Dr. Mehmet Demiralp, a faculty member of the Niğde Vocational School of Technical Sciences, Motor Vehicles, and Transportation Technologies Program, as co-inventors.

An SCI-E indexed journal publication has been made within the scope of the project titled "The Effect of Black Carrot Powder Obtained by Different Drying Methods from Waste Şalgam Juice on Noodle Production" by Tuğba Özer, a student of our Faculty's Food Engineering Department. The project was supported under the TÜBİTAK 2209-A Student Projects Program during the 2nd Call of 2022 and supervised by Research Assistant Dr. Mehmet Yetişen, a faculty member of the Food Engineering Department.

The 'Hidroxplorer' software developed by our faculty members from the Department of Geomatics Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aslı BOZDAĞ and Dr. Ahmet Emin KARKINLI, within the scope of their TÜBİTAK 1512 projects, was awarded a prize. The awards were presented by Prof. Dr. Bayram Ali ERSOY, President of ÖSYM, and Prof. Dr. Hasan USLU, Rector of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, at the awards ceremony during the Gala Night held in Baku.

In the relevant letter from the Ministry of National Education Directorate General for Vocational and Technical Education, it was stated that within the scope of the Social Activities Regulation for Educational Institutions, the International MEB Robot Competition is being organized for middle schools, equivalent schools, high schools, and university students.


Within this scope, it is planned to hold the 16th International MEB Robot Competition in Erzurum from October 16-19, 2024, in 13 categories. The competition's implementation guide and other documents have been published on http://robot.meb.gov.tr."

Our Faculty’s Computer Engineering Faculty Members Dr. Yeşim Dokuz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Şakir Dokuz, and Research Assistant Alper Ecemiş have developed a virtual reality-based software project to shorten the orientation process for new employees in various sectors.


Our faculty members from the Department of Computer Engineering, Dr. Yeşim Dokuz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Şakir Dokuz, and Research Assistant Alper Ecemiş, have developed a virtual reality-based software in a company they established within our university's Niğde TEKNOPARK Inc., with support from the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization (KOSGEB). This software aims to shorten on-the-job training in various sectors.

Under the supervisiory of our faculty member Prof. Dr. Bora Timurkutluk, a microtube hydrogen fuel cell that will double the flight time of UAVs has been developed.


Under the supervisiory of Prof. Dr. Bora Timurkutluk, a faculty member of our Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and with the support of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), batteries with surface properties that will double the flight time of UAVs compared to traditional microtubes have been developed as part of the 'Development of an Original Microtube Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Project.

The national patent application titled "High Accuracy Object Counting System Using Multi-View Method" for the Seed Counting Machine developed by our faculty member Dr. Hakan Aktaş from the Department of Computer Engineering with support from TÜBİTAK has been registered by the Turkish Patent Institute.


Dr. Aktaş, who established his company with TÜBİTAK BİGG support and continued his R&D projects within Niğde TEKNOPARK A.Ş., completed the seed counting machine project with additional support from TÜBİTAK BİGG, TEYDEB 1507, and KOSGEB. Domestic sales of the machine began, and a patent application was submitted in September 2021, followed by an exhibition at the Antalya Growtech Fair in November 2021.
