1To teach the basic concepts of nutritional biochemistry and explain the role of nutrients in metabolism
2To evaluate the structures of nutrients and their role in metabolism using case studies
3To explain the mechanisms of digestion, absorption and energy production at a biochemical level
4To evaluate the metabolism of macronutrients and the regulatory role of hormones in metabolic pathways using the Socratic method.
5To explain the structure, functions and inhibitory mechanisms of enzymes and interpret their importance in clinical applications using case examples
6To describe the structure of the cell membrane and the mechanisms of transport of substances
7To analyse the biochemical effects of macronutrients in deficiency and excess
8To explain the biochemical basis of metabolic diseases using at least one disease as an example
