Objective 1

To train professional geriatric care technicians who can meet the physical, psychological, mental, and social care needs of elderly individuals in a holistic manner and in accordance with their cultural background.

 PG1. All graduates of the geriatric care program possess up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to meet the care needs of elderly individuals.

PG2. At least 20% of graduates start working in the field of geriatric care services in public or private institutions within the first 2 years after graduation.

PG3. At least 50% of graduates assume educational roles in the fields in which they work.

PG4. At least 50% of graduates actively participate in rehabilitation and social support services for elderly individuals.

Objective 2

 To train professional technicians who perform the duties, authorities, and responsibilities of geriatric care technicians in accordance with ethical principles and values, and who can take roles in education, management, and research in professional fields.

 PG1. Graduates of the geriatric care program perform their duties, authorities, and responsibilities in line with ethical principles and values in their workplaces.

PG2. At least 5% of graduates participate in scientific activities (congresses, symposia, courses, certificates, etc.).

PG3. At least 15% of graduates participate in educational activities that support their personal development.

PG4. At least 50% of graduates actively take part in social service activities/projects for elderly individuals.

Objective 3

 To train geriatric care technicians who contribute to improving healthcare standards and enhancing the quality of life of individuals receiving geriatric care services.

PG1. All graduates follow and apply current guidelines and care standards in theoretical and practical geriatric care services.

PG2. All graduates receive training in acute and chronic disease management in elderly individuals and apply this knowledge in practice.

PG3. At least 80% of graduates use information and healthcare technologies to follow developments in geriatric care services.

Objective 4

To train geriatric care technicians who collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams by using interpersonal communication and leadership skills within the scope of their duties, authorities, and responsibilities.

 PG1. Graduates use interpersonal communication skills when working with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

PG2. At least 80% of graduates actively take roles in geriatric care services by using their leadership skills.

PG3. At least 50% of graduates actively participate in crisis and emergency management.

 Mission

The mission of the Geriatric Care Program is to train geriatric care technicians who will work in long-term healthcare services for elderly individuals within the framework of a rights-based approach in line with the United Nations Principles for Older Persons. These professionals will be capable of providing primary, secondary, and tertiary preventive care, follow scientific and technological advancements, work within multidisciplinary teams, adhere to ethical values, embrace lifelong learning, and possess a high level of social responsibility and awareness.

 Vision

The vision of the Geriatric Care Program is to become a nationally and internationally recognized program that trains geriatric care technicians who embrace lifelong learning, lead professional development through scientific research and practice, are inquisitive, innovative, and well-equipped through advanced educational methods, and contribute sustainably to the health of elderly individuals and their families by providing preventive, supportive, and restorative care while positively influencing the impacts of demographic changes in the country
