He was born 09.11.1943 in Niğde. He finished Niğde High School with first position. Afterwards, he checked in Istanbul Tecnical University, Department of civil engineering where he graduted in 1964. He worked as research asistant in The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBİTAK).

Kendirli participated the course " International Postgraduate Course in Functional Analysis,Topology ,and the Foundations of Mathematics" which was organized by UNESCO and Poland Scientific Academy. He started to work as a lecturer in METU (Middle East Tecnical University). He completed M.A. education in 1969. He went to Yale university to have Ph.D. education. He completed Ph.D. education succesfully under the advisor Prof. Dr. Robert Langlands. The title of thesis is  "On representations of SL(2,F),  GL(2,F) and PGL(2,F)".  Afterwards, he started to work in mathematics department in METU. He got the positions of  Associate Profesor and Profesor in 1982, 1991 respectively. He worked as visiting Profesor between 1979-1980 in Leiden University.

   He still works in İstanbul Aydın University, Mathematics Department from 2015. He has four books and 25 international papers. He has two children in first marriage whose names are Elif and Doğa. He has a daughter, Meltem, in second marriage.
