TÜBİTAK 1001 Project on the Impacts of Climate Change on Mycotoxin Contamination Receives Funding
The project entitled "Impacts of Climate Change on Aflatoxin and Ochratoxin A Contamination: A Future Risk Modeling Study," coordinated by Prof. Dr. Bülent Kabak from Hitit University, has been selected for funding under the TÜBİTAK 1001 – Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program.
Researchers from Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University are also members of the project team. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burak Şen from the Department of Biosystems Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeşim Dokuz from the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, will contribute to the interdisciplinary research.
The project aims to investigate the effects of climate change on contamination by aflatoxins and ochratoxin A, two major mycotoxins that pose significant risks to food safety and public health, and to develop predictive risk models for future scenarios. The findings are expected to provide valuable scientific evidence to support food safety, agricultural sustainability, and climate change adaptation strategies.
Bringing together experts from different disciplines, the project will integrate artificial intelligence and advanced modeling techniques with agricultural and environmental data to improve scientific understanding of the potential impacts of climate change on food safety.
Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University is pleased to contribute to this nationally funded research project and congratulates its academic staff involved in the project, wishing them continued success.
