The Biosystems Engineering Department is a branch of engineering consisting of the departments of Agricultural Machinery Systems, Agricultural Energy Systems, Land and Water Resources, and Agricultural Structure Systems, where engineering science and design are integrated with biology, environmental and agricultural sciences.
Biosystems Engineering is an innovative engineering discipline that enhances agricultural production by making it more efficient, sustainable, and technology-driven. While Agricultural Machinery Systems focus on developing automation and precision farming technologies, Agricultural Structures Systems ensure the design of modern greenhouses, livestock facilities, and food storage areas in accordance with engineering principles. Land and Water Resources Management contributes to sustainable agriculture through efficient water use, irrigation systems, and soil conservation techniques. Covering a wide range of fields, from eco-friendly technologies to biotechnology, energy efficiency, and smart farming, this program offers future engineers the opportunity to make a difference in agriculture and environmental sustainability.
Our department was established in 2011 within Ayhan Şahenk Agricultural Sciences and Technologies and started its activities in the 2020-2021 academic year.
As of 2025, there are 3 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors, 1 Research Assistant Doctor and 1 Research Assistant in our department.
Our department's faculty members and students are in constant communication, and our students actively participate in projects of various public and private institutions on topics they want to work on, under the consultancy of our department's faculty members. Our students regularly submit project proposals to project calls such as TÜBİTAK 2209-A, TÜBİTAK 2209-B, and TEKNOFEST under the academic consultancy of our department's faculty members.
