Course Objective
The aim of this course is to enable teacher candidates to understand language acquisition processes during childhood and early adolescence from a developmental perspective; to help them understand how concept acquisition and vocabulary development occur starting from early childhood; and to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop appropriate teaching methods, activities, and stimuli to support these processes.
Brief Content of the Course
The language acquisition process in children, including the acquisition of the sounds of their native language, the acquisition of word classes, the concept of time, the use of tenses, sentences, the acquisition of negation, yes-no questions, and other structures. In addition, understanding how concept acquisition occurs, particularly from early childhood onward; and understanding how vocabulary acquisition and conceptualization skills develop during childhood and adolescence (early youth). Helping prospective teachers understand what kinds of stimuli, methods, and activities they can use as educators to support the language acquisition process.
