Course Objective
It is aimed to be able to design woven and knitted fabrics by knowing the basic principles and importance of the fabric design process and to encourage students to think about design and production techniques such as sustainable resource use, upcycling and zero waste.
Brief Content of the Course
Classification of fabrics, history of weaving and knitting, basic components of woven fabrics, basic textures: plain, twill and satin, fabric formation in weaving machines and weaving machines, woven fabric quality, end uses of woven fabrics, woven fabric applications, Basic concepts used in knitting, materials and machines used in knitting process, weft and warp knitting techniques and properties, knitted fabric applications, comparison of woven and knitted fabrics, surface production methods, special fabric structures, creative fabric manipulation from scrap fabrics within the framework of sustainability.
