Course Objective
In this course, it is aimed to develop students' ability to comprehend 20th century contemporary art, to master the history of contemporary art and to think about the development, dynamics and major qualities of contemporary art in a holistic manner. Within the scope of the course, information is given about how contemporary art movements emerged as a rebellion against traditional rules and patterns by famous painters, how they developed over time and how life affected art.
Brief Content of the Course
Students will be able to recognize, define and use the critical and historical terms necessary to recognize and compare the important qualities of contemporary art. will be able to recognize the major artists associated with contemporary art and their important works. Will be able to recognize and describe the formal characteristics of contemporary art. Will be able to comprehend contemporary art in comparison with the historical context in which it is produced. will be able to draw frameworks that encompass the intersections between the themes and forms of contemporary art. Will be able to gain experience in interpreting contemporary art history. Will be able to recognize and define common methods in contemporary art history.
