Course Objective

Brief Content of the Course
Historical roots of Turkish music culture. Central Asia period, with music and ambient music culture in the ancient nomadic culture interactions. Skip to Anatolia, the ancient Anatolian music, western Asia and Mesopotamia music. Acceptance of Islam, medieval Islam music in the world. Ancient Greek influence in medieval music theory and music written sources. Ottoman music theory, instruments, species, major composers. Ottoman-era music writing, reeds and magazines are mentioned. Spread in Turkey in the Balkans, several interactions with music culture and new music formation, reflection on the music of growing relations with the West, first in western Turkey music elements and institutions. Republican era music, multi-cultural structure of Anatolia music, new music formations
