Course Objective
This course is aimed at musical reading-writing and hearing skills. It includes fundamental music knowledge, rhythm, and basic polyphony, which create the necessary foundation for other subject courses. The course aims to develop students’ musical sensitivity, understanding, interpretation, and creativity skills through music. Students will also be expected to develop cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills. MHRW is a core course in the Music Teaching program, spanning four semesters. The aim is to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills that they will use in their professional lives.
Brief Content of the Course
Key signature knowledge; time signatures in 3/4, 3/8, and 6/8 meters; reading, writing, and creating monophonic melodies up to tonalities with one sharp or one flat; alteration; compound intervals; root position and inverted triads, diatonic chords and their applications. Prosody. Solfeggio in bass clef.
