Course Objective
To ensure the protection of our natural beauties (fossils, minerals, ornamental stones, mines, sinkholes, sand dunes, caves, volcanoes etc.) which are accepted as “Geological Heritage” and to raise awareness among our students in order to pass them on to future generations, to introduce the new concepts of “geological heritage, geotourism and geopark areas” in Geology and the “Natural Monument Geological Formations” that Turkey has.
Brief Content of the Course
Geological Heritage definition criteria, geosite, geopark concepts, Turkey's geological heritage areas, sample geological heritage areas from the world; research and promotion of geological heritage areas and scientific, cultural and economic aspects. Geological Heritage lists, protection and importance, importance of Geological Heritage and Education, Turkey's geological heritage list, geotourism capacity, geopark areas. The relationship between GEOPARKS AND GEOTOURISM with sustainability and development.
