Course Objective
The aim of the History of the Quran course is to enable students to understand the process of the Quran’s revelation, preservation, stages of writing, mushafization and reproduction in a historical perspective. In addition, by analyzing the characteristics of early mushafs and the concepts that emerged in this process, it aims to better understand the stages until the Quran took its current form. This course aims to contribute to students’ knowledge of Quranic history and mushaf studies, while providing a concrete learning experience with visual examples and documents.
Brief Content of the Course
Within the scope of the course, the process of revelation, the preservation of the Quran, the characteristics of early mushafs and the processes of duplication of the Quran will be discussed. In addition, the organization of the Quran, the stages of punctuation and vowel points, the sections of the mushaf and their historical developments will be examined with visual materials.
