Course Objective
It aims to explain the basic concepts and principles of surgical diseases and to provide knowledge and behavioral skills that can provide care, education, rehabilitation, health promotion and sustainability with a holistic approach in the pre- and post-operative period.
Brief Content of the Course
Definition of surgery, classification, risk factors, general effect of surgery on the patient, homeostasis, admission of the surgical patient to the clinic, preoperative care, asepsis, surgical infections, sterilization, operating room nursing, wound care, pain in surgery and nursing care, general principles in burn treatment, shock and nursing care, respiratory system surgical diseases and nursing care, cardiovascular system surgical diseases and nursing care, digestive system surgical diseases and nursing care, urinary system surgical diseases and nursing care, musculoskeletal system diseases and nursing care, endocrine system surgical diseases and nursing care. It includes nursing care, nervous system surgical diseases and nursing care, ear-nose-throat and eye surgery diseases and nursing care, plastic and reconstructive surgery and nursing care, breast diseases and nursing care. In addition, it includes improving and ensuring the sustainability of health after surgical treatment.

Explains basic theoretical concepts and principles of surgical diseases.

Describes the role and responsibilities of each member of the surgical team and surgical nurse.

Describes the preoperative evaluation and preparation of the patient who will undergo surgical intervention

Discuss the evaluation of the patients undergoing surgical intervention and prevention and management of postoperative complications.

Develops an evidence-based nursing care plan using the nursing process for the patient undergoing acute and chronic surgery.
