Course Objective
The aim of this course is to provide students with basic information on zoning legislation, planning principles and the implementation of zoning plans. In this way, students will gain the competence to read and interpret zoning plans in mapping and cadastral applications, to give ideas about sustainable cities and to act in accordance with the legislation.
Brief Content of the Course
The urbanization process brings with it environmental, economic and social problems. It is of great importance to manage these problems in line with sustainability principles. Local governments, especially municipalities, should take an active role in sustainable urban planning, protection of natural resources, increase of green areas, and making infrastructure systems environmentally friendly. Zoning plans should be prepared with an understanding that is environmentally sensitive, considers energy efficiency and prioritizes social justice. In this process, current regulations and legislation should be brought into line with sustainable development goals. Urbanization problems, relevant administrative units, duties and regulations in terms of municipality and zoning.
