Course Objective
To provide information about political geography and the main views on political geography, to make pre-service teachers understand the physical, human and economic factors in political geography, as well as the political, military and economic organizations in the world, on the World and Turkey platform, to teach the factors that affect the politics of the country, to teach the effects of factors on the development of countries by comparing countries, to teach Turkey's environmental policy as a phenomenon.
Brief Content of the Course
Definitions, main views on political geography. Physical factors in political geography (location, area, borders, landforms, climate, waters, soils, natural resources). Human factors in political geography (population, culture, military and/or political, economic communities). Political formations of which Turkey is a member (NATO, EU). Turkey's relations with Middle East countries, Balkan countries, Caucasian countries and Turkic Republics. Transboundary waters, straits, continental shelf and Aegean problems. OECD countries. Political and economic organizations in the world. Theories in political geography.
