Course Objective
The aim of this course is to introduce and discuss the concepts, structures and mechanisms of modern operating systems. The course covers operating system fundamentals, process management, multi-threading, concurrency issues, memory management, virtual memory, scheduling techniques, input/output management, file management, security issues, virtual machines, cloud systems, mobile and embedded operating systems. The course focuses on operating system internals, methods and algorithms rather than operating system interfaces.

In this course; Introduction and Overview of the Computer System, Overview of Operating Systems. OS Services, Process Definition and Control, Threads, Concurrency: Mutual Exclusion and Synchronization,Concurrency: Deadlock and Starvation,Memory Management,Virtual Memory,Single Processor and Multiprocessor Scheduling,I/O Management, Disk Scheduling and File Management,Operating Systems Security,Virtual Machines and Cloud Operating Systems,Virtual Machines and Cloud Operating Systems,Mobile, Embedded and IoT Operating Systems.
