Course Objective
The aim of this course is to introduce traditional sports that are a significant part of Turkish culture, and to enable students to understand their historical, cultural, and athletic aspects while fostering appreciation for cultural heritage.
Brief Content of the Course
History and classification of traditional Turkish sports and their role in society. Information and practices related to oil wrestling, javelin (cirit), horseback archery, aba wrestling, mangala, chovgan, and traditional riding. Relationship of these sports with cultural values and their place in modern life.
