Course Objective
Introduction to archaeology as a branch of science. A chronological study of Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Aegean, and Mediterranean cultures.
Brief Content of the Course
The time period encompassing the transition from prehistoric times to historical periods, namely Prehistory (200,000-3000 BC) and Protohistory (3000-1200 BC), will be examined. Beginning with the earliest civilizations in Mesopotamia, the Aegean, and the Mediterranean, the civilizations that reigned in Anatolia and surrounding regions during the Stone, Bronze, and Iron Ages will be discussed.
