General Information
Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Bor Vocational School, Department of Electrical and Energy, Hydrogen and Energy Storage Technician Program commenced operations in the 2025-2026 academic year, accepting associate degree students.
The Hydrogen and Energy Storage Technician Associate Degree Program is a two-year program consisting of four semesters, each worth 30 ECTS credits. A semester's ECTS credit represents 30 hours of workload for the student each semester.
Our program's academic staff consists of 3 lecturers.
In the program, associate degree students begin their first year with compulsory courses such as English, Turkish Language, and Atatürk's Principles and History of the Revolution, as well as courses in Electrochemistry and Applications, Hydrogen Technologies, Computer Technologies and Coding, Renewable Energy Systems, Computer-Aided Design, Fuel Cells, and Energy Storage Technologies. In their second year, students focus on specific areas by choosing compulsory courses and elective courses related to their interests, such as Hydrogen Production Methods, Battery Technologies and Management, Hydrogen Energy Infrastructure Systems, System Analysis and Design, Hydrogen Economics, Hydrogen Vehicle Systems and Applications, and Electrolysis Technologies in Hydrogen Production. Students who successfully complete their courses at the end of the second year graduate as Hydrogen and Energy Storage Technicians.
Aims and Objectives
Aim:
Our program aims to train Hydrogen and Energy Storage Technicians who are professionally equipped to work in the public and private sectors, capable of following technological developments, and competent in meeting the needs of the industry. They will possess knowledge of hydrogen energy and its applications, hydrogen storage techniques, and fuel cells, which are becoming increasingly important and widely used today. They will be familiar with these systems and equipment, understand their characteristics, apply their knowledge to industrial systems and equipment, and perform maintenance and repairs. Our laboratory facilities provide students with the opportunity to reinforce their learning through practical application as much as possible.
Objective:
The objective of our program is to train technicians who possess sufficient technical background, can interpret and evaluate data using their basic knowledge and skills in their field, can identify problems, can implement professional plans and projects, and can develop solutions.
In addition to these general objectives, the Hydrogen and Energy Storage Technician Program aims to train personnel who can establish and transmit safety and security to their team at the same level, can follow developments in their profession, can use computers in their profession, know hydrogen technology and the infrastructure it brings, are proficient in the use of this technology, can understand and interpret instructions received from higher units in the field, can transmit them to lower units, can organize work, can perform and transmit applications requiring advanced technology and features to lower units, can work in teams, can take responsibility and risks, can communicate verbally, in writing and technically, can make decisions, can perform needs analysis, can solve problems, can write reports, can start their own business, can use equipment, can perform maintenance and repair, and can keep records.
