This week, we had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Emrah Özdemir, the Mayor of Niğde, as part of the Local Government Finance course, which is overseen by Dr. Özlem Tümer, a faculty member of our Faculty's Department of Finance. In the course, which covered the financial structure of local governments, budget management, and the financial aspects of projects carried out specifically in Niğde, our students had the opportunity to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with experiences from the field.

In his presentation, Mayor Emrah Özdemir shared important insights on the revenue sources of local governments, strategies for increasing own revenues, and the efficient use of public resources. Answering questions from our academics and students, Özdemir emphasized the importance of transparent and sustainable financial management in local governments.

At the end of the course, we thanked our Dean, Prof. Dr., for his contributions to our faculty. A plaque was presented to Mr. Emrah Özdemir by Mutlu Başaran Öztürk. Our Finance Club students, in keeping with the spirit of the lesson, presented Mayor Özdemir with a "symbolic currency" they had prepared, offering a symbolic representation of the theoretical course.
