Soil, Our Natural Resource Program Held
The "Soil, Our Natural Resource" program, organized by Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University's Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, drew enthusiastic student interest. The program began with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem.
The program began with an opening speech by Melike Nazlı Çetin, President of the Agricultural Sciences Club. Following this, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Şekeroğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, emphasized the critical role of soil in agricultural production and wished the students a productive program.
The program continued with scientific presentations by panelists Prof. Dr. Kadir Saltalı and Prof. Dr. Kenan Kılıç, chaired by moderator Prof. Dr. Mustafa Avcı.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Kadir Saltalı provided comprehensive information on the properties and classification of soils, key factors to consider when establishing a garden, and the importance of soil in plant cultivation. He particularly emphasized the importance of soil structure and land preparation for participants.
Prof. Dr. Kenan Kılıç made important assessments on heavy metal-containing soils in the Niğde region, phytoremediation, and the impacts of these pollution on human health. His presentation also emphasized how heavy metal accumulation can affect human health and the critical importance of sustainable remediation strategies for the region.
The program continued with Dean Prof. Dr. Ahmet Şekeroğlu presenting certificates of appreciation to the moderators and panelists.
The event concluded with a commemorative photo taken with participants and academics.
