Our Vocational School hosted an exemplary event that brought together technology and culture as part of the Domestic Products Week celebrated on December 11-12, 2025. The TÜBİTAK 2209-A project titled “Awareness of the National Operating System PARDUS on University Campus,” conducted by the Computer Technologies Department, was implemented through peer education, online participation by a TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM official, and a technical field trip.

One of the most notable aspects of the training, organized under the supervision of Computer Programming Program Instructor Fatma BARKUŞ, was the participation of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM Pardus Project Manager Şenol ALDIBAŞ via online connection. Addressing the students, Aldıbaş explained the development processes of free software and the national operating system, and congratulated the project team.

Student-to-Student Knowledge Transfer: “Peer Education”

In this project, the "Peer Education" model, where students educate each other, was implemented to introduce our national operating system and raise awareness about open-source software. Project leader İbrahim GÜNEY and research students Aykut KURUN, Reyyan ALBAYRAK, and Sanem Nur YILDIZ shared their acquired technical knowledge with their classmates using interactive methods in the computer lab.

Mayor Baran Sponsors T-Shirts for Students

The event was supported by Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan USLU, Bor Mayor Serkan BARAN, and Bor Vocational School Acting Director Prof. Dr. Hakan DEMİR. Bor Mayor Serkan Baran, who sponsored the t-shirts worn by the project team and participating students throughout the training, concretely demonstrated his commitment to the technological development of young people. The protocol members toured the laboratories and examined the students' work firsthand.

Training, Certificate, and Gümüşler Monastery Visit

Participants who successfully completed the training were presented with their certificates. As part of the program, the project team and participants, united by their t-shirts, visited Gümüşler Monastery, one of Niğde's historical landmarks.
