Project Event Titled “PARDUS National Operating System Awareness on the University Campus” Supported within the Scope of TÜBİTAK 2209-A

Our Computer Programming Program hosted a meaningful event that brought technology and culture together within the scope of Domestic Goods Week on 11–12 December 2025. The project titled “PARDUS National Operating System Awareness on the University Campus,” supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2209-A, was carried out through peer education practices, online participation of a TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM official, and a technical field trip.

Conducted under the supervision of Lecturer Fatma Barkuş from the Computer Programming Program, the training included an online address by Şenol Aldıbaş, Pardus Project Manager at TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, who shared information with students about the development process of free and open-source software and the national operating system PARDUS. Within the scope of the “peer education” model implemented in the project, project coordinator İbrahim Güney and researcher students Aykut Kurun, Reyyan Albayrak, and Sanem Nur Yıldız transferred the technical knowledge they had acquired to their peers through interactive methods in the computer laboratory.

The event was also supported by the participation of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Uslu, Mayor of Bor Serkan Baran, and Acting Director of Bor Vocational School Prof. Dr. Hakan Demir. By sponsoring the T-shirts worn by the project team and participating students throughout the training, Mayor of Bor Serkan Baran demonstrated his support for the technological development of young people in a tangible way.

On the final day of the project, the project team and students visited Gümüşler Monastery, one of the most important historical sites of Niğde. The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to the participants who successfully completed the training.
